With Sally Magnusson

Depictions of Race in movies and popular culture; Black Liberation Theology; If you reach a point were you can't have both, would you want quality of life or quantity of life?

American theologian and writer Dr Greg Garrett joins Sally Magnusson to talk about his new book which looks at changing attitudes to racism in Hollywood films over the last century. They are joined by Dr Peggy Brunache, Lecturer of History of Atlantic Slavery at the University of Glasgow, and Professor Anthony Reddie, Editor of Black Theology and Director of the University of Oxford鈥檚 Centre for Religion and Culture, to examine stereotyping in movies and popular culture. Together they also explore Christianity鈥檚 role in colonialism and slavery, and where religion fits into contemporary discussions about racism, equality and Black Liberation Theology.

Quality of life or quantity of life? Sally speaks to Professor Robin Taylor, a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Wishaw General Hospital, who is urging us to think about which is more important, if you reach a point where you can鈥檛 have both.

They鈥檝e perhaps been the most vulnerable in our society over recent months, so what do we need to do differently to ensure older people are looked after properly? Sally looks at how we care for our elderly, with Professor Robin Taylor, Dr Anne Hendry, Deputy Honorary Secretary of the British Geriatric Society, and Dr Jane Douglas, Executive Care Director of Queen鈥檚 House.

In our occasional series on the things that inspire, Elif Shafak, international award-winning writer, shares her surprising soundscape to her working day.

And from the bedrooms of a few, to one of our most popular cultural past times, we鈥檒l be taking a look at a new Netflix series, High Score, which charts the history of the video game, with Theo Priestley, futurist and writer, and Romana Ramzan, Lecturer in the Department of Applied Computer Games at Glasgow Caledonian University.
