A Level grading system, India & Pakistan Independence days and ‘Indian Women and War’

Qasa asks, Has the A-level grading system ruined your university plans?

First, Qasa Alom gets a round-up of the latest coronavirus news from our reporter Shabnam Mahmood. After that we’ll be marking the 73rd anniversary of India and Pakistan’s independence from British rule. We’ll hear from historian Jaspreet Kaur and banking professional Shabaz Khan, about what independence day means to them. Then Qasa wants to know, has the A-level grading system ruined your university plans? This comes after some people on social media criticised the government’s new computer programme that’s been used to determine exam results this year. We’ll also be joined by students Sudul Ratnaweera and Mohammed Bawa about why they decided to do a BTECs instead of A levels. Plus, history researcher, Kiran Sahota, and historian, Paula Kitching, talk about their new project ‘Indian Women and War’. It looks at the little known efforts and contribution of women during the World Wars. And Qasa speaks to Chandni Makhecha and Sahana Banduge whose wedding was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The couple then decided to distribute their wedding favours to patients at St George’s Hospital in south London.
