In a sport special, Talking Movies explores how sport and cinema have come together over the decades. The special first airs at the time when the now-postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games would have commenced and will profile the esteemed Japanese director, Naomi Kawase, hired as the official film-maker of the Games.

Carmen Roberts is in Japan to interview Kawase, known for making intimate cinema, and ask how she will tackle the task of documenting the world's most famous sporting event. The programme also covers other aspects of the relationship between sport and cinema, including Bollywood's involvement with cricket in India and the rise of sports documentaries.
