Shielding changes; Pop-up camping, Dressing down
How what we're wearing and the clothes we're buying has changed since lockdown.
If you've been shielding in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland from tomorrow, the advice is being relaxed so you'll be able to do more things. It means more than two million people who have been told they are clinically extremely vulnerable can go out to buy food as long as they stay social distanced, or go to work, as long as the workplace is "COVID-secure." It also means they'll no longer be able to get free food parcels, and medicine deliveries from the government's National Shielding Service. We'll speak to two people who've been shielding about how they feel about the advice being relaxed, and hear from Age UK about their campaign aimed at helping people who are being forced to go back out to work.
As millions of summer holidays abroad have been disrupted, many holiday companies have lost swathes of business because of the coronavirus restrictions, but one part of the holiday industry has seen an upsurge in demand. Camping in all parts of the UK has very recently been released from the rigours of lockdown, and is drawing the crowds. Demand is huge and campsite are reporting being full for the summer, even with social distancing in place. We'll report from the New Forest and hear from one of the UK's biggest online booking sites.
And, we'll discuss how what we're wearing has changed over the past few months, and how what we buy will continue to alter. It comes as new figures from the market research company Kantar suggest we spent fifty percent less on work wear so far this year than last. In contrast spend on running and jogging clothes has jumped by 90 percent, clothes to relax in were up almost sixty percent.
