Five Talents sets up microfinance Savings Groups in marginalised communities in eastern Africa. Our Savings Groups provide tailored literacy and numeracy, financial and business skills to members so they can create small businesses, grow their income and support their families. Groups are community owned and empower members to become decision makers in their homes and communities. Our programmes unite communities to learn, earn, save and invest together to build resilience to emergencies and adversity.

Five Talents offers literacy & numeracy training to the most marginalised communities in the world. These are two of our trainers holding an adult literacy lesson during a Savings Group meeting in Karamoja, Uganda.

Our Savings Groups meet weekly. Members save together in a communal pot and then make loans to one another from their pooled savings. Here, a member proudly presents her savings to be recorded by the elected group leaders at a Savings Group meeting in Baringo, Kenya.

Our member, Winifreda, used her talents to start a business making colourful bed sheets. With support from her Group, Winifreda bought a sewing machine to produce sheets to sell in the local market. The profits mean her children can eat good food & go to school.聽
