Hannah French presents great Prom concerts from recent years by 91热爆 Orchestras and Choirs. Today, a feast of 20th- and 21st-century music from the 91热爆 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. In this remarkable 91热爆 Prom from 2008, Ilan Volkov - then Principal Conductor of the 91热爆 SSO, now their Principal Guest Conductor - leads a beautifully shaped concert featuring classics of electronic music by the French-American pioneer Edgard Varese and the modern master Jonathan Harvey, plus a Harvey world premiere. The concert is launched by two Proms premieres: from another towering French modernist, Olivier Messiaen, and Harvey's tribute to him on the centenary of his birth.
