Episode 6

Dr Mike and his team treat a newborn foal fighting for its life after a difficult birth. Meanwhile, Dr Chris is attacked by a patient and deals with a seedy springtime problem for dogs.

It鈥檚 foal season, but not all births are going to plan. Dr Mike and his team at the equine hospital are trying to assist a newborn colt that has been rushed in for emergency evaluation. The young horse is known as a dummy foal - starved of oxygen at birth and his body not working as it should. He can鈥檛 stand or feed and if left alone would die of dehydration. It is hoped urgent intervention will save his life.

At the animal hospital, Dr Chris and his team are dealing with a different springtime challenge - grass seeds. Seemingly innocuous, the seeds can cause havoc in pets, embedding into their skin and resulting in dangerous infections. Dexter the dog has multiple abscesses on his paws from the seeds and needs to be sedated so they can be dealt with.

Dr Chris also has a trio of his favourite type of patients to examine as three pet reptiles have been brought in for an annual health check. Dr Chris treats them in the order of the least likely to bite him first.
