Stay 91Èȱ¬, Rave Safe – Disco roots and shoots

Mark and Stuart warm up for their Studio 54/disco hour with a selection of uptempo tunes and a chat with The Real Thing's Chris Amoo

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

As part of '6 Music's Stay 91Èȱ¬, Rave Safe Saturday' Mark and Stuart reflect on the legendary New York club Studio 54 and celebrate disco music.

They warm up for an hour-long Studio 54/disco mix, with plenty of party tunes and uptempo classics to get you limbered up and in the mood for a day of dancing. They explore some of the roots and shoots of disco, and reflect on the influence and legacy of disco from the 1970's to present day.

They chat about UK disco with Chris Amoo of Liverpool soul and funk band The Real Thing, as well as the forthcoming 91Èȱ¬ Four documentary about the band.

Also on the show, Clare Crane has a special round up of dance and club news in ‘This Week In Music’, with updates and info on how to keep on dancing throughout lockdown.

Their Studio 54/disco hour begins at 10am, and is available to listen again to as a separate episode on 91Èȱ¬ Sounds.
