08/06/2020 Small Abattoirs - Protected Marine Areas - Cereals

Some of the country’s Marine Protected Areas should be upgraded to a higher status according to a new report out today.

A report out today – on World Oceans Day – calls for the introduction of Highly Protected Marine Areas around the UK’s coast. The review has been carried out by a panel led by the former Conservative MP and fisheries minister Richard Benyon. He explains to Charlotte that there are already 355 Marine Protected Areas around the UK and the panel proposes that the new HPMAs should be within that existing network.

A new report from the all-party parliamentary group for animal welfare wants small abattoirs to be recognised as an essential part of the rural livestock industry and given more support.
