The Art of the Cover

In trad music performing songs written by others is nothing new but taking on a chart-topper is quite different. Bruce plays the best folky cover versions of pop and rock classics!

It's not often you hear music from Queen, AC/DC and Cher on the bill here on Travelling Folk... but this week Bruce is exploring the art of the cover song.

In traditional music performing songs written by other people is nothing new. Music has been passed down, from generation to generation, since the beginning of time. But taking on a chart-topping hit is something quite different and is not without risk, especially when crossing into a new genre.

With the help of the listeners, Bruce finds the best folk and traditional versions of classic pop and rock: those who have reinvented the song and brought new meaning to it; or simply provided some sparkle through their playing.
