Witness History brings you an all women special. We'll go back 50 years to hear from the first black woman to become a head teacher in London, and visit Russia for an eyewitness account of Stalin's final terrifying purge in the Soviet Union.

We then head to the 1970s and hear the story of the South Asian women who galvanised Britain's trade union movement to support their strike, and speak to Carmen Callil, the founder of Virago Press, who looks back on her life in publishing.
