Brilliant brass and a drunken Santa with trumpeter Anne McAneney
Trumpeter Anne McAneney opens up a colourful selection of music from the inside - revealing familiar and unfamiliar works in a new light.
London Philharmonic Orchestra trumpeter Anne McAneney chooses music with the magic of live performance at its heart. She reflects on her own experiences working with conductors like Kurt Masur, Sir Andrew Davis and Vladimir Jurowski, and enjoys the comic musical genius of Dudley Moore and his interactions with the audience.
Anne also demonstrates the subtleties of double and triple tonguing on the trumpet, before finding similar techniques in a track by Indian classical virtuoso Zakir Hussain.
And if you want to know about the difficulties of playing in time while pretending to be a drunk Santa Claus (who doesn’t?), Anne will enlighten you.
A series in which each week a musician reveals a selection of music - from the inside.
