Legs4Africa

Legs4Africa is the charity that gets people walking again. We recycle prosthetic legs from across the UK and send them to partner hospitals across Africa so they can be fitted to amputees who may otherwise never walk again.

Land full of legs

Land full of legs
In the UK, approximately 5,000 prosthetic legs end up in landfills every year.  Meanwhile, in Africa, 1.7 million amputees are in need of a limb to help them live independent lives.

Support groups

Support groups
As well as providing prosthetic leg components and physical rehabilitation, Legs4Africa facilitate amputee-led community groups so individuals can be supported emotionally and form friendships with people in the same situation as them.

Alieu’s story

Alieu’s story
Alieu is a police officer from The Gambia - he lost his leg while on duty. Thanks to Legs4Africa and their partnership with Banjul Hospital Alieu received a free prosthetic in 2015.
