Finding freedom through music
Music In Detention believes that music exists to speak the words we can鈥檛 express. It鈥檚 why the charity uses the power of music to help asylum seekers and migrants held in UK immigration detention centres escape the distress of not knowing when they will be free. The charity has more than 150 music sessions planned this year. Please help someone find freedom through music with a donation today.
Locked up with no release date
If you flee to the UK from torture, war or poverty, you can be locked up in an immigration detention centre for days, months, or even years, while your application to remain is processed. You don鈥檛 know when you will be free or deported. Many describe detention as mental torture.
Escaping the distress
Music-making helps people escape the distress. Leroy says: 鈥淚t was the best week of my life. I am very proud of the music I made. It was really good to get advice and help from H.鈥 聽(Leroy is not featured in this photo to respect his wish for privacy.)
