Huddart

Following up with a family who had settled in Rothesay Bay and had totally embraced NZ life, but found that mum Sofia needed to secure a permanent job or they would have to return to the UK.

Back in 2015 the Huddart family were living in London. After a career in IT, dad Nik had spent the last two years as a stay at home dad to their three young children, which gave him plenty of time to enjoy his beloved London, spend time with the children and polish his domestic skills. Mum Sofia had concentrated on her medical career, but her shifts as an anaesthetist were demanding and hours were long. Their family life was under strain. Sofia thought New Zealand would give them a better quality of life, but Nik was much more cautious. If a move didn鈥檛 work out, moving back to London would be impossible as house prices would rocket and would make it impossible for the family to get back on the property ladder. But by 2017 the family had moved to New Zealand's Rothesay Bay area and they had all totally embraced New Zealand life.

However Sofia still needed to secure a permanent job or the family would have to move back to the UK. Two years later, have the Huddarts managed to settle? And where might that be - in New Zealand or back in England?

Huddart Family Update

The Huddart family are still loving their life in New Zealand!
All three kids love their school life and outdoor activities. Favourites include kung fu, tennis, rugby, horse riding and swimming. Living so close to the sea, Izzie has becoming very skilled in kayaking. Nik loves walking Dashi on the beach and Sofia goes on her paddle board. Rothesay Bay is a great little community and they鈥檝e made many good friends.
Nik鈥檚 got a part time job managing the Masonic centre. It鈥檚 even paid for a new car after the old work horse 4x4 kept breaking down!
Sofia is now working at Auckland Hospital and enjoying it. While it鈥檚 a fixed-term position she鈥檚 still keeping an eye on permanent roles in Auckland as they love the area so much.
We're glad to say they wouldn鈥檛 change anything, and the move has given them the life they hoped for.
