Motown's Brian and Eddie Holland

Mark and Stuart hear from legendary Motown songwriters Brian and Eddie Holland

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast

On today's show Mark and Stuart hear from legendary Motown songwriters Brian and Eddie Holland. Alongside Lamont Dozier, brothers Brian and Eddie made up the famed songwriting trio 'Holland - Dozier - Holland' which penned scores of hits for Motown Records in the 1960's. As an integral part of Motown's success, they wrote and produced songs for The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Martha & The Vandellas, The Four Tops and The Isley Brothers. From The Four Tops' 'Reach Out I'll Be There', Martha & The Vandellas' 'Heat Wave' and 'Nowhere To Run' to The Supremes' 'Baby Love', 'Where Did Our Love Go' and 'Stop! In the Name of Love' they are responsible for some of the best-known records in pop history. Following the release of their memoir, Brian and Eddie discuss their childhood in Detroit, their time at Motown Records and the dynamic behind their era-defining hits.

Also on the show, Clare Crane has the best music and entertainment stories of the past week in 鈥楾his Week In Music鈥.

You can take part in The Chain, choosing a track for our world-famous list of interconnected songs. With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.
