Ka Baird talks about her music that sounds simultaneously ancient and futuristic. Her latest album Respires combines breathy flute samples, swooping electronics, driving meditative rhythms and experimental vocal techniques. Ka talks about how she aims to be 100% present and ‘aggressively immediate’ in her performances which has led to her being called both a shaman and a clown.

Stuart features a seminal record for stoner rock, Sleep’s Holy Mountain. Released in 1992 it features groovy riffs, sludgy guitars and bluesy basslines. Also in the show is a Frank Zappa loving Japanese group De Loreans; electronic music from Lanark Artefax and ambient hip hop beats inspired by Japanese ghost stories from Meitei.
