Episode 4
The papal delegates arrive with the news that the grand inquisitor is on his way to the abbey. On examining Berenger's body, William discovers similarities with the death of Venanzio.
William and Adso find Berengar dead in a bath in very suspicious circumstances, and when Severinus discovers William鈥檚 missing lenses in the dead man鈥檚 habit, William is sure they have the identity of Adso鈥檚 attacker in the library.
The Franciscan and papal envoys arrive for the conference but bring news that the Pope is sending Bernard Gui, the grand inquisitor, as his envoy. William and Adso continue in their investigation in the library in their search for a secret chamber, the Finis Africae, and discover various mechanisms designed to deter intruders. Adso is distracted by the presence of the strange Occitan girl in the forest, who is also the object of desire of the strange and demented Salvatore.
