All this week Steve continues to dig into the archive of his classic album series. Today it's the turn of The Specials talking about their 1979 self-titled debut album.

40 years on from it's release Steve looks back at The Specials debut album. Produced by Elvis Costello, the album captures the disaffection and anger felt by the youth of the UK's "concrete jungle"鈥攁 phrase borrowed from Bob Marley's 1972 album Catch a Fire but equally apposite here to describe the grim, violent inner cities of 1970s Britain.

It has gone on to be one of the defining albums of the era, perfectly snap shotting how politically and socially tense it was in the UK at that time.
