The police and their treatment of ethnic minorities

Do you trust the police to treat ethnic minorities fairly?

Do you trust the police to treat ethnic minorities fairly? Qasa is asking this because the mother of a 12-year-old girl of Somalian background says she feels there is institutional racism in the police. Shukri Abdi was found dead after she had drowned in a river in Bury in July. Her mother Zam Zam Ture says she thinks the police were unsympathetic when she initially contacted them to say her daughter was missing. After that we鈥檒l be marking the independence of Pakistan and partition of India. Qasa hears from Gita Sahgal, the great niece of India's first Prime Minister Jawarhal Nehru and Zain Haider Awan, whose family are from Punjab in Pakistan, about their stories. Then we鈥檙e joined by Matty Vipulananthan and Amaan Niwaz on why they decided to do vocational courses after their A Levels rather than go on to university. Plus, in this week鈥檚 God panel we鈥檒l be discussing Raksha Badhan, a festival celebrated by Hindus and some Sikhs.
