More about the programme

If you're a pupil from a poorer background in Wales, you're a third less likely to do well at GCSE level.

It's called the attainment gap and it's vexed education ministers since devolution began.

Will Wales' new curriculum, which is currently out to consultation, help to close the gap?

Research from Cardiff University's WISERD suggests that two thirds of teachers who have been involved in schools that have trialled the new curriculum think that it may not benefit poorer pupils.

But teachers who work at schools with high levels of economically disadvantaged pupils say it will be beneficial.

Eye On Wales explores the arguments.
