In the final episode of the series, the North West Ambulance Service answer over 18,000 calls across a hot May bank holiday weekend.
Advanced paramedic Duncan speeds to the Lancashire Cricket Ground, where a spectator has suffered a heart attack. Ambulance crew Gary and Claire are dispatched to an overturned car on the motorway, along with another ambulance and an air ambulance. Gemma and Claire are despatched to treat a 36-year-old male who is short of breath, complaining of chest pains and is waiting for them at a phone box. The patient tells them that he is a heroin addict and relies on a daily dose of methadone. However, the bank holiday weekend means the pharmacy is closed and he can鈥檛 get access to his prescription. And the EOC receive a call from a nine-year-old who says somebody has killed their grandad.
