Should the British government apologise for the 1919 Amritsar Massacre? Hundreds of Indians were killed and thousands injured in Jallianwala Bagh in the Punjab by British Indian Troops. It was at a time when the British Raj had concerns about an uprising. This weekend marks 100 years since the massacre, there has never been an official apology. Do you think it would make a difference now? Then, we鈥檒l talk about the impact of it on British Sikhs with authors Parmjit Singh and Amandeep Singh Madra, whose new book tells the story of the massacre through images that have never been seen before. Later, hear what it was like to be there at the time of the massacre from the Kohli family; their uncles were caught in the cross fire but lived to tell the story. We also hear from Major Sartaj Singh Gogna who has served in the British Army as a British Sikh. Anita Anand also joins us to talk about her new book The Patient Assassin. It鈥檚 about Udham Singh, who was injured in the attack and years later took revenge by killing the Governor of Punjab.
