Same sex relationships
Why are some parents so opposed to children learning about same sex relationships?
Why are some parents so opposed to children learning about same sex relationships? Qasa is asking this because a campaign that started in Birmingham stop children in primary schools learning about same-sex relationships has spread across England. After that we hear about a double bill of two South Asian plays, Om Shanti and Doll Face, which examine taboo subjects and the challenges faced by British Asian women. Qasa speaks to Natasha Kathi-Chandra and Karen Mann who wrote the plays. Then we’re joined by Sophina Janot and Mukhtar Dar to talk about their involvement in a brand new project called ‘Transforming Narratives’, which hopes to establish Birmingham as a leading international centre for modern Pakistan and Bangladeshi arts. Plus Kashif Siddiqi, from Football for Peace, Ifza Tindall a policy analyst with Faith Associates and Aya Bdaiwi, from Faiths Forum, chat to Qasa about their concerns on the spread of Islamophobia. Since the New Zealand mosque shooting there are reports of growing far-right activity and hate crimes against Muslims.
