Why are some parents so opposed to children learning about same sex relationships? Qasa is asking this because a campaign that started in Birmingham stop children in primary schools learning about same-sex relationships has spread across England. After that we hear about a double bill of two South Asian plays, Om Shanti and Doll Face, which examine taboo subjects and the challenges faced by British Asian women. Qasa speaks to Natasha Kathi-Chandra and Karen Mann who wrote the plays. Then we’re joined by Sophina Janot and Mukhtar Dar to talk about their involvement in a brand new project called ‘Transforming Narratives’, which hopes to establish Birmingham as a leading international centre for modern Pakistan and Bangladeshi arts. Plus Kashif Siddiqi, from Football for Peace, Ifza Tindall a policy analyst with Faith Associates and Aya Bdaiwi, from Faiths Forum, chat to Qasa about their concerns on the spread of Islamophobia.
