Episode 3
Documentary series following the staff in Glasgow Central Station. Storm Hector causes havoc on the tracks, and Sajid is retiring after 45 years in the station.
Documentary series following the people who work all hours to keep Scotland鈥檚 busiest train station on track, delving into the building's history with stories of the past. Central Station has been at the heart of Glasgow for 140 years, running over 950 trains a day for 32 million passengers a year. Day and night for one long summer we meet the people who make the station work. Central Station has long been Scotland鈥檚 busiest; it鈥檚 the northern terminus of the West Coast Main Line from London and the starting point for travel to hundreds of stations in mainland Britain.
Over the decades, the station has knitted itself into the lives of many people. For generations of Glasgow folk, particularly those that work here, Central Station has become part of the family. In this third episode we find out what happens once all the passengers are gone and the station closes its gates for the night. Susan and the staff are entertained by the passengers as Beyonce and Jay Z are in town, conductor Catherine takes us on a journey over the border, and the TransPennine staff struggle to get their customers on trains as there are cancellations across the board.
There鈥檚 romance under the clock, and Sajid is on his last shift before he retires after 45 years in the station. Can Gold Command keep the network running as Storm Hector causes havoc on the tracks? And will the Beyonce revellers get home safe with no slips, trips and falls?
