More about the programme

It’s estimated that 1 in 20 women will experience extensive physical and sexual violence during their lifetime – compared to 1 in 100 men.

More than half of those women will experience a common mental health problem, one in five will experience homelessness and one in three an alcohol problem.

When it comes to seeking help, the evidence suggests that gender-specific services work well for women – especially those with multiple or complex needs.

Such services could save those women a lot of pain and anxiety – and society a lot of money.

Yet large parts of Wales lack such provision.

Eye on Wales hears how a year-long inquiry has concluded that too many survivors of domestic and sexual violence are being failed by the system meant to help them.
