Ten-year-old Marley and her mother are travellers, pitched up for the summer in their eccentric caravan. They scrape a living by selling eggs while Marley cares for their brood of hens, and her rather crazy pet cockerel Jimmy.
Marley has no time for the local chicken farmer, not just because his hens are all kept locked up but because he wants Marley, her mum and their beloved caravan cleared off his land pronto. But it’s their home!
When Marley meets local boy Murdy, she confides in him and tells him of her plan to get one over the rotten Farmer Hugh. But can she trust Murdy? And what happens if Marley is caught in the act?
