The Scottish Government has committed to increasing the number of funded pre-school places for three and four year olds, and some two year olds, from the current 600 hours a year to 11,040 by August 2020 but there have been concerns about how that is going to be delivered .

A Briton jailed for life for spying in the United Arab Emirates pleaded guilty when he was confronted with "compelling" evidence, prosecutors say. Matthew Hedges, 31, always said he was innocent and had been researching the country's security strategy for a PhD. The organisation 'Detained in Dubai' say they have dealt with in excess of 10,000 human rights violation cases that have occurred in the UAE over the past decade.

KIDS MENUS
Is it time to scrap the kid's menu? Food Standards Scotland say that the commonplace practice of providing separate children's menus leads to youngsters consuming more ice cream, breaded chicken, chips and burgers than the adults they are with. And that, if they were abolished, kids would be "exposed" to a wider range of "food experiences."
