North west business owners affected by last year's floods say they have been treated differently from Belfast traders after the Primark fire.

Some local business owners affected by the August 2017 floods say they feel abandoned by the authorities after it emerged funding was approved for businesses affected by the Primark fire in Belfast but not for firms in the North West. The SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan has written to the head of the civil service to ask for the rationale behind the emergency funding allocation. A recovery package of more than 拢1 million was announced for Belfast. But in August last year, businesses in the north west hit by flooding were told funding needed to be approved by a Minister.
