The Launch: Art is Everywhere

Mary Anne launches Art is Everywhere with Michael Jackson’s official photographer, Todd Gray, and Ariel Caine from the Turner Prize-nominated collective Forensic Architecture.

Mary Anne Hobbs launches 'Art is Everywhere' with Michael Jackson’s official photographer, Todd Gray, and Ariel Caine from the Turner Prize nominated collective Forensic Architecture.

Todd Gray became the photographer of the "King of Pop" in 1979, and went on to shoot him until 1984. Following his contribution to the Michael Jackson: On The Wall exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, he joins us to talk about the experience of capturing Michael in life and on film, and gives his top tips for up-and-coming photographers.

Turner Prize nominee Forensic Architecture are made up of architects, filmmakers, software developers, investigative journalists, lawyers and scientists. Ariel Caine from the group joins us to talk about how the increase in digital technology, like mobile phones capturing audio, photos and videos, and satellite images has allowed them to create a ‘citizen-led’ evidence gathering analysis. This work has proved as vital evidence in a number of global legal cases.

Need inspiration while you work on your own masterpiece? Check out the playlist Forensic Architecture have put together for us.

91Èȱ¬ Radio 6 Music's annual art weekender, 'Art Is Everywhere', takes place on the 1st and 2nd of December, tying in directly with the 2018 Turner Prize.
