Singer-songwriter and guitarist John Smith performs songs from his new album Hummingbird

Mark Radcliffe explores the wide range of traditional and contemporary folk and acoustic music from around the UK and the world,

This week, acclaimed guitarist and singer-songwriter John Smith performs live in the Salford studio.

Alongside his solo work, John has been a long-time member of Cara Dillon's band and part of The Elizabethan Session, where he worked along side Martin Simpson, Bella Hardy, Nancy Kerr and others to create new music inspired by the Elizabethan era.

He has toured all over the world, and opened for acts such as John Martyn, John Renbourn and Davy Graham.

His sixth solo album, Hummingbird, is out on the 5th October.
