A senior academic has warned mums who post graphic accounts of the birthing process online are contributing to a rise in phobia of childbirth.
While sharing such descriptions might be therapeutic for the woman who went through the experience, it’s thought mums to be could be traumatised by reading such stories. So are we too quick to tell childbirth horror stories?

In a TV interview following her third cancer diagnosis, Olivia Newton John said she avoids using words like ‘battling’ and ‘fighting’ when it comes to her illness, preferring instead to use ‘journey’ or ‘mission’. So how important is the language we use around cancer? Jackie speaks to Lauren Mahon from the You Me & the Big C podcast, paralympian David Smith MBE, breast cancer survivor Laura Simm to find out what language they use and is also joined by Madeline Alexander of Cancer Support Scotland.
