A curiosity cabinet of experimental music. Cellist Oliver Coates joins Stuart to talk about his new record, a fantasy about the Stoke-on-Trent nightclub Shelley鈥檚 and planet Zenn-La from the Marvel Comics Universe. Also on the show hyperactive surrealist k-pop from Lancashire/Korean band Tirikilatops and a selection of exotic ambient music from Brian Eno and Jon Hassel鈥檚 Fourth World, Vol. 1: Possible Musics. The record combines African drumming with Jon Hassel鈥檚 trumpet and experimental production techniques and was released in 1980 around the same time as Brian Eno鈥檚 solo ambient series.
