Toughest Job in Winter
Jules Hudson braves the elements to find out what it takes to do one of the toughest jobs in the UK. On Helvellyn – England’s third highest peak – he joins Fell Assessor Graham Uney who climbs the mountain every day to assess the weather and conditions. In a week, Graham walks and scales the equivalent height of an assault on Everest. But mighty as the mountain is, it’s not as resilient as you might suppose. Helvellyn is home to some of the rarest alpine plants in Britain, but they have a champion in climber and
environmentalist Rob Dyer, who reveals to Jules how technology can safeguard both plants and climbers.
