June Sarpong
TV presenter and human rights campaigner June Sarpong embarks on a highly personal journey to explore the roots of her strong spiritual beliefs.
In the last of our special programmes to mark Advent, TV presenter and human rights campaigner June Sarpong embarks on a highly personal journey to explore the roots of her strong spiritual beliefs.
Unflinching in her honesty, June guides us through her life story, talking publicly for the first time about her unique take on spirituality, her relationship with God and how her faith guided her through her darkest times. As a teenager, she was involved in a life-threatening road accident which saw her hospitalised for a year. Then her beloved older brother committed suicide. On both occasions, she relied heavily on her religion to help her cope, finding solace in the support provided by her church congregation.
Part travelogue, part celebrity biography, the programme offers thought-provoking insights into what it means to have faith in the 21st century and is a fascinating tale of joy, hope and spiritual awakening that will resonate with everyone in the build-up to Christmas.
