BSL GCSE

Clive Mason looks at the campaign for a British Sign Language qualification to be taught in UK schools. And a hairdresser wants to stop deaf people having bad hair days.

Clive Mason reports on the campaign for a qualification in British Sign Language to be taught in UK schools. While Scotland is introducing an official BSL course from autumn 2018, there is no equivalent qualification available in the rest of the UK. The government says while it has no immediate plans for a GCSE in BSL, it will consider such a course in the longer term.

Also featured is the Kent hairdresser who is making it her mission to stop deaf people having bad hair days.

And a round-up of deaf news stories from across the UK with Alison Wherry-Alimo and Julian Peedle-Calloo.
