Mark Cousins

Edi Stark talks to film-maker Mark Cousins about his love of movies, growing up as a skinny, brainy, bullied kid in Belfast and meeting Gill, his partner.

In a programme full of playfulness and insight, Edi's guest is an energetic evangelist for the movies. Mark Cousins became a familiar face on television in the late nineties when this young, wild- curly- haired dude presented Moviedrome in a Belfast accent and later in Scene by Scene as the presenter and interviewer of key film artists like Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Jane Russell, and Roman Polanski.
He is also a maker of films...In 2011, an award-winning landmark documentary television series was first broadcast. The Story of Film, an odyssey, was directed and narrated in 15 hour long chapters.
This former director of The Edinburgh International film festival knows the circuit well... and has just returned from Cannes where his latest film documentary The Eyes of Orson Welles has garnered great reviews.
He talks to Edi about his love of movies, growing up as a skinny, brainy, bullied kid in Belfast, meeting Gill, his partner ...and the liberating joy of being naked.
