Putting plants in quarantine to reduce disease - Charlotte Smith hears why Michael Gove has launched a new horticulture scheme that arises out of DEFRA's 25 Year Environment Plan. Nicola Spence, Chief Plant health officer at the ministry explains that it's an opportunity for the sector to increase its productivity.

As the season of agricultural shows gets under way, Charlotte finds out whether they are changing with the times in order to bridge the town and country divide.

And does public access to the countryside count as a public good? Charlotte hears about the Dutch model in which farmers are paid to maintain footpaths that cross their land.
