Sara Cox is joined by Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow to celebrate hunky popstars, whose names covered pencil cases and bedroom walls.
As well as tunes from Wet Wet Wet, there is a hot tub of heartthrobs, including tracks from Duran Duran, Bobby Brown, Jason Donovan and David Bowie.
Marti shares memories of his time in Wet Wet Wet, telling stories of the importance of their Glasgow roots and support of their mums in their early days, alongside madcap tales of popstar extravagance involving jets, Memphis and personal demons. He also talks about his own solo career and the exciting prospect of life out on tour in 2018 with a huge back catalogue of hits and tributes to perform.
Sara plays Wet Wet Wet hit videos Wishing I Was Lucky and Sweet Little Mystery, as Marti recalls good times filming for the songs, plus he chooses a track from one of his own favourite 80s soul artists.
Also in this episode, it is Sara's final Sounds of the 80s and she is presenting a Top 5 Megamix of her very own 'best' bits, plus she looks back on many of the superstars who have graced Radio 2 Sounds of the 80s sofa!
