It's Happening Again
Rock Pool Discovery
Matt sets out on a journey through spring and his first stop is Portreath beach.聽
He's meeting with local rock pool enthusiast and blogger Heather Buttivant to see what signs of spring are coming alive in the inter-tidal regions.聽
Heather鈥檚 son is also on hand to show Matt a thing or two about best rockpooling techniques, but who will find the most new life springing up beneath the water?
Beavers
Ellie is on a farm just outside Truro to find out how reintroducing a native, but much misunderstood, animal could benefit the local landscape and local people.聽
Ellie meets with farmer Chris Jones who has introduced beavers onto his farm and finds out what sort of changes they've brought.聽
Ellie also meets Cheryl Marriott, head of nature conservation聽at Cornwall Wildlife Trust, to find out how the ongoing monitoring of the project is going.
Farmers at risk
Farming has one of the highest suicide rates of any profession, while gay and bi-sexual men are also more likely to attempt to take their own lives than others.聽
Put the two together and the worry is that there is a group of people in our rural communities at high risk. So what support is out there right now?
Marine Discovery
Steve heads to Newlyn Harbour for his first sea safari.聽
He meets up with local skippers and wildlife researchers Hannah and Duncan Jones, who know this stretch of water like the back of their hands.
In fact, they know it so well that they even have names for the local wildlife!
Steve's hoping they can help him see Cornwall's grey seals and find out about the important work being done to protect them.
Farming Hero finalist
Kurt Jackson
Ellie is on the clifftops around Land鈥檚 End, following in the footsteps of J.M.W Turner.
The famous artist produced landscapes of the area to sell Cornwall to tourists who couldn't go abroad because of the Napoleonic Wars!聽
Ellie is meeting with renowned environmental-artist Kurt Jackson, who has been re-tracing Turner鈥檚 footsteps and creating his own artwork showcasing how the landscapes have changed in the last two centuries.
Big Blind Walk
Matt meets Julian Jackson and Richard Winstanley to take in the聽smells, sounds and textures of Cornwall's beaches and woodland.
Julian is blind and Richard is his childhood friend and walking companion.聽
The pair were last on Countryfile for the Battle of the Somme centenary bike ride and now Julian is taking on his next challenge - the Big Blind Walk from Land鈥檚 End to John O'Groats.
