Money Box Live: The Long Wait for Payment

The collapse of building giant Carillion has left thousands of small firms owed huge sums. But why are some companies so slow to pay for work that has been duly completed?

Why do some companies take months to pay for work that's been properly completed?

The collapse of building giant, Carillion, has highlighted the damage caused when businesses are not paid for work done. Whether in construction, manufacturing or the retail sector, late payments and lengthy payment terms can affect cash flow and reduce profits. It can mean the difference between staying afloat or going under.

Louise Cooper and guests explore why big businesses often delay settling invoices - and why smaller firms are reluctant to confront them over terms and conditions.

If you're in business - whether a one-man band or with hundreds of staff - share your experience of waiting to be paid. What have you done to speed things along and how successful have you been?
