Anna St茅phany (mezzo-soprano)
Sholto Kynoch (piano)

Following recent acclaim in the Royal Opera's Der Rosenkavalier and Glyndebourne's La Clemenza di Tito, Anna St茅phany returns to the Oxford Lieder Festival, joined by Oxford Lieder's artistic director Sholto Kynoch. The first half of their programme includes songs by the young Mahler, written in the 1880s and inspired by nature and folk music, and Grieg's wonderful six settings of German poetry, Opus 48, written in exactly the same period. After the interval, they perform a selection of songs by the senior statesman of song in Vienna, Johannes Brahms, including some of his arrangements of folk songs, by turns amusing and profoundly moving.
