25/10/2017 - Danny Toland

A remarkable tribute to Glen Barr from Danny Toland, whose father was murdered by loyalist paramilitaries. And time to reassess Derry's emerging night-time economy.

Following the death of Glen Barr, former UDA leader and community worker Danny Toland gets in touch to pay tribute. "In late 1976 my father John Toland was shot dead by UFF. In the aftermath of the murder, Mr Glen Barr condemned the brutal murder carried out by the UFF on my father - an innocent man. As a result of this he received a death threat from loyalist paramilitaries".

And time to reassess the Derry's emerging night time economy after two attacks in the city. What can be done to make people feel safe? Staggered pub closing hours? More police? What about late-night buses to clear the streets faster?
