Almost 300,000 homes and businesses in the republic have no electricity as the worst storm in half a century claims three lives.

Let's go straight to the Republic now and the aftermath of Storm Ophelia. It claimed the lives of three people and left around 300,000 homes and businesses without power. Ophelia moved up the west coast, where it hit Galway.

And aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has struck a deal with Airbus which could safeguard 1,000 jobs in Northern Ireland. The European firm is to take a majority stake in Bombardier's C-series jet project, which has been the subject of a deepening trade dispute with the United States.
