Why Music? The Key to Memory

Sean Rafferty launches Why Music? The Key to Memory live from London's Wellcome Collection. Guests include Dame Evelyn Glennie.

Sean Rafferty presents a live edition from London's Wellcome Collection. In Tune launches 'Why Music? The Key to Memory', a special weekend exploring music's unique capacity to be remembered and the role of music for those living with dementia. Radio 3 is in partnership with the world-renowned Wellcome Collection and the weekend includes wide-ranging concerts, world premieres, live events and new research from leading musicians, scientists and experts. Sean's guests include Dame Evelyn Glennie, violinist Jack Liebeck with pianist Katya Apekisheva, the Marmen String Quartet, and Baroque collective Solomon's Knot - all performing live at Wellcome Collection.

And in the first look at some of the extraordinary objects on display at Wellcome Collection, Georgia Mann finds out about the mind-boggling, hundred-plus volumes containing the printed 3.4 billion units of DNA code which make up the human genome.
