Mike Wilson and Damien Barber on Peter Bellamy
Mike Wilson and Damien Barber pay tribute to Peter Bellamy ahead of a special concert on the anniversary of Bellamy's classic album, The Barrack-Room Ballads of Rudyard Kipling.
The best folk and acoustic music from Britain and beyond.
This week, singers Mike Wilson (The Wilsons) and Damien Barber (The Demon Barbers) discuss the life and work of the late Peter Bellamy.
Mike and Damien are among the cast of a tribute concert happening at Hartlepool Folk Festival on 15 October 2018. The concert will mark the 125th anniversary of the publication of Rudyard Kipling's Barrack-Room Ballads, and the 40th anniversary of Peter Bellamy's musical versions of the poems.
The Barrack-Room Ballads deal with the realities of army life in the Victorian era, and largely with army life in the British Raj, as it was.
The Hartlepool concert will include Damien, The Wilsons, Eliza and Martin Carthy, Jon Boden, Jackie Oates, Gina Le Faux and Hardeep Singh Kohli.
Plus the usual mix of exciting new releases, classic tracks and news from the folk world.
