Local councillors have raised concerns about plans to mine for gold in the Sperrins, near Gortin. The Canadian company behind the plans - Dalriadan - are facing opposition from environmentalists, who fear it could damage the landscape and cause pollution - claims denied by the firm during a presentation to the council yesterday. The DUP's David Ramsey and independent councillor Paul Gallagher were both at that meeting.
