A spot for spotting
There can be few more cheering sights in summer than a butterfly, flitting between the flowers. But numbers have dwindled dramatically in recent decades. Many species are in decline - some聽have seen numbers decrease by as much as 75 per cent. So there's a sense of urgency when the Butterfly Conservation group suggests we get outside and get counting.
Adam聽tries his luck聽at the beautiful Rhiwledyn nature reserve on聽Llandudno's Little Orme. Aside from butterflies,聽limestone grassland plants abound, and it's and excellent place to do some bird or porpoise watching.聽
Adam talks to Jan Miller Klein, from Holywell, who has written widely about creating good habitats for聽butterflies.聽Rhiwledyn is managed by the North Wales Wildlife Trust and we hear聽from warden, Rob Booth, and the living seas officer, Nia Jones. Anyone wishing to read Jan's books, visit the reserve or take part in the Big Butterfly Count, will find links on this page.聽聽聽聽聽
