Join Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith for the latest outdoor activities from Shetland to the Borders, plus the key stories for those who live and work in the countryside.
This week on Out of Doors...
The Scottish Government's Farm Advisory Service is holding a series of events across Scotland this summer to inform tenant farmers and landowners about important changes to tenancy legislation including the Tenants' Improvements Amnesty. Euan went along to one of the events to find out more
What is Goretex and where did it come from? A while ago we had that exact conversation in the office and it inspired Euan to try and find out.
Gin is enjoying something of a revival at the moment. Distilleries are popping up all over the place and while we were on our North Coast 500 trip, we past what is mainland Britain's most northerly gin distillery. Set up by husband and wife Claire and Martin Murray, Dunnet Bay Distillery produces not just gin but vodka too and Mark went for a tour.
Building an Out of Doors hut is something we've been determined to do for a while. Last week the Scottish Government created a new building type which should make it easier for people to build a hut for recreational use. Euan speaks to Karen Grant from Reforesting Scotland's Thousand Huts Campaign to find out more.
Mark visits the Isle of May. During the height of the breeding season, over 200,000 seabirds nest on the island, including puffins, black-legged kittiwakes, razorbills and various species of tern and gull. He takes a boat across from Anstruther and chats to some reserve staff and visitors about what makes it such a special place.
And Euan picks up the tale of Kelpies in an Angus river that lead to the building of a bridge by local farmers.
