Lynda has troublesome guests, and Kirsty is keen to recruit.

Leonie and James arrive at Ambridge Hall for Lynda's Birthday party. Leonie wants wake Mungo, but James wants to let him sleep so that Lynda can show him off later. Lynda hopes for a night to remember.

Kenton has sent a bottle of Scruff Gin to Brookfield, along with a cheque. Jill's not impressed that Kenton will only be able to pay off his debt in full if the gin is a success. Having attended a talk at Borsetshire Wildlife Trust, Jill wonders if she's become complacent about protecting the environment. Kirsty suggests a visit to Adam's herbal leys will help her feel more positive. Monocultures are the norm at most farms now, but the herbal leys are beautiful and sustainable. Kirsty tries to persuade Jill to get more involved with the Wildlife Trust. Jill worries that the family couldn't cope without her, but returns home to find they have all made their own dinner plans.

At Lynda's party Leonie and James' argument escalates. Leonie confides in Lynda that James is staying with friends after she changed the locks. They still came to the party so as not to disappoint Lynda. Lynda begs them to try again for Mungo's sake. But James packs his things for the Dower House - it's over.
